01About This Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Thinkersteps Technologies LLC, a company registered in the United Arab Emirates with its office in Sharjah ("Thinkersteps", "we", "us" or "our"), collects, uses and protects personal information.
It applies to:
- our website at jewelsteps.com;
- the JewelSteps™ jewelry management software, including the web, desktop and mobile apps (the "Software"); and
- related services such as demos, free trials, onboarding, support and our presence at trade shows (together, the "Services").
This policy should be read together with our Terms & Conditions and End User License Agreement (EULA).
02Information We Collect
Information you give us
When you fill in a form, book a demo, start a free trial, set up an account, contact us by phone, email or WhatsApp, or share your details with us at a trade show, we collect information such as your name, email address, phone number, company name, job title, country and anything you choose to tell us about your business.
Business data you store in the Software
When you use the Software, you store data about your jewelry business, such as inventory, product images, invoices, orders, payments, financial records and details of your own customers. We call this "Your Data". Section 3 explains how we handle it.
Information collected automatically
When you visit our website or use the Software, we automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, features used, referring website and the date and time of your visit. Much of this is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described in Section 5.
03Your Customers' Data
Your Data belongs to you. We process it only to provide, support and maintain the Services for you. We do not sell it, and we do not use your customers' details to market our own products.
When you store details of your own customers in the Software, such as names, phone numbers, purchase history or measurements, your business decides why and how that information is used. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to collect it and, where required, your customers' consent, for example before sending them WhatsApp or email messages through the Software.
Our team may access Your Data only when needed to provide the Services, such as during setup, data migration or when you ask us for support, or where the law requires it.
04How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- provide, set up and maintain the Software and your account;
- arrange demos and trials, and respond to your enquiries;
- provide customer support, onboarding and training;
- send service messages such as account, billing, security and product update notices;
- send marketing messages where you have agreed or where the law allows (see Section 11);
- understand how our website and Software are used, so we can improve them;
- keep our Services secure and prevent fraud or misuse; and
- comply with legal, tax and accounting obligations.
05Cookies & Analytics
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Our website uses them to work properly, remember preferences and understand how visitors use the site. We also use the following third-party tools on our website:
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the website work.
06How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these situations:
- Service providers that help us run our business, such as cloud hosting, email and messaging, demo scheduling (Cal.com), analytics and payment providers. They may use the information only to provide their service to us.
- WhatsApp. If you chat with us on WhatsApp, or send messages to your customers through the Software, those messages are also handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own privacy policy.
- Integrations you turn on, such as Tally or QuickBooks. Data is shared with them only when you connect them, and their own privacy policies apply.
- Legal reasons, if required by law, court order or a government authority, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Thinkersteps, our customers or others.
- Business transfers, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. Your information would stay protected under this policy.
07International Transfers
We serve jewelry businesses in many countries, and our team and service providers may process information outside the country where you live. When we transfer information internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure it stays protected in line with this policy and applicable law.
08Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, such as encrypted (HTTPS) connections, password-protected user accounts and limiting staff access to what is needed for their work. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your login details confidential and tell us straight away if you suspect unauthorised access.
09Data Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy. We keep Your Data for as long as your account is active. After that, we may keep some records for as long as needed to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements, and then delete or anonymise them.
If you need a copy of Your Data before your account ends, please contact us in advance.
10Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you are, data protection laws such as the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, the EU and UK GDPR, or US state privacy laws may give you rights over your personal information. These can include the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information;
- object to or restrict certain uses, including marketing; and
- withdraw consent you have given us.
To make a request, email info@jewelsteps.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within the time the law requires. If your request is about your own customers' data stored in your account, you can usually update or delete it directly in the Software.
11Marketing Messages
We may send you news, product updates, offers or event invitations, such as trade show meetings, by email, phone or WhatsApp where you have agreed to this or where the law allows. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails, replying to tell us, or contacting us. Opting out of marketing does not stop important service messages about your account.
12Children's Privacy
JewelSteps is business software and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly.
13Third-Party Links
Our website may link to other websites, such as trade show organisers, app stores and integration partners. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their privacy policies before sharing information with them.
14Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technology or the law. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify existing customers.
